| PLEASE HELP THIS FILM PROJECT |
For the past 16 years, the severe struggles of autism have kept the Farmer family of Indiana, and countless families like them, at home, in the shadows of the mainstream, struggling to survive the stress, and still somehow offer their child more from life. Taking their Jackson to the beach would be more than a simple family vacation; it would create a journey through public awareness for autism.
Perhaps Jackson’s father, Kip Farmer, explains it best. “Maria and I are parents that are all in. We love Jackson and are fully committed to him, and his two amazing younger brothers, Elijah and Spence. We have the heart to take on a journey like this, but in reality, we struggle day to day just existing with him at home. Thus far the resources (time, money, and people) for making something like this happen for our son have eluded us.
For Jackson Goes to the Beach to go from unlikely concept to finished film, we will need significant funding. We plan to raise money for this project the same way most important autism-related projects have been accomplished, from the ground up. With a grassroots approach, we hope to tap into the power of the autism’s greatest threat; its sheer numbers, to the advantage of those who need the awareness raised the most.
